Invitation
Remembering Saathi Ashish Mandloi
Yuva Netritva Shivir
May 18-19-20, 2013. Village Chhota Barda on the Banks of Narmada, Teh Anjad, Badwani, Madhya Pradesh
Narmada Bachao Andolan for 28 years have been fighting for justice and equity and thereby bringing to the forefront the question of development itself. In the process, we have formed alliances and fought many battles outside the valley and continue to struggle. In this stream over the years young people from the Narmada valley, or other parts of the country have come, joined the movement, led the struggle in villages, cities, courts, media and so many other places.
Saathi Ashish was one such brave and committed yuva of the valley, who played a key role in the Andolan. It's his third death anniversary and more the time passes we constantly feel the need of more yuvas like him in the valley and elsewhere in the andolans.
When we are young, we are full of idealism, visions and dreams of changing the world but we also have the pressures of career, fulfilling parental and societal aspirations and with changing times dealing with new challenges. We all are product of our own times and we have to find our moments of reckoning and awakening. History is full of opportunities and it is in the midst of movements and struggles that dreams of new worlds and societies are seen and aspired.
NAPM organised a yuva netritva shivir in Wardha in February and with that we decided to hold yuva shivirs in different movements and in states. Narmada Bachao Andolan is hosting the yuva shivir on May 18-20th and we invite you all to join us in this endeavour.
As a young person it will be an opportunity to be with the yuva saathis of a historic movement like NBA and also to discuss contemporary issues and know the dynamics and challenges of organising at the grassroots. Shivir will also be joined by Krishnakant, Chinmay Misra, Arun Thakur, Vinay R R, Suniti S R, Shyam Patil, Dr, Sugan Baranth, Medha Patkar and others.
Please pass on the message to youva saathis in andolan and those in universities and outside who wnt to be with the andolan and are interested in processes of change.
We attach for you the minutes of the Wardha Yuva Shivir and an invitation in Hindi for the Narmada Yuva Shivir on May 18-20 at Village Chhota Barda, on the banks of Narmada River, Tehsil : Anjad, District Badwani, Madhya Pradesh.
