SCHOOL FEE HIKE - LETTER FROM PARENTS FROM THANE (MAHARASHTRA) Dear Sir, We are parents of Arya Gurkul School, Vidya Nagari, Nandivli Village, Kalyan (E), Dist. Thane (M.S.). The School Management have hiked Tution Fees in 2008-09 17%, in 2009-10 36% and in 2010-11 they are asking hike for 42%. Apart from Tution Fees we are paying Term Fees, Activities Fees, Computer Fees, Book Charges, Uniform Charges and Bus Charges also. In totality at present we are paying Rs.25, 000=00 ( Approx) per Year. For current year 2010-11 they were asking hikes for Rs. 7000=00 yearly. Against this demand we had gone for agitation on 14th August, 2010 that time management had assured us in front of Local MLA. Mr. Ganpatrao Gaikwad and Sr. Police Inspector Mr. Deshmuks that they will take approval of parents before any fees hike. After coming decision from Mumbai High Court in September they send circular of payment of hiked fees without any approval of parents. And even they refused to talk with parents and PTA also. Ultimately we decided to go for hunger strike, supported by Local MLA Mr. Ganpatrao Gaikwad and Forum for Fairness in Education (Chairman Mr. Jayant Jain) from 4th Dec., 2010 in front of Gate of School. Our Hunger Strike started at 9.30 A.M. and 2.30 P.M. management called us for discussion. After 3 hours discussion management took back fees by Rs. 3000=00 per year, which was acceptable to parents representative. Management also agreed to take the parents into confidence before hiking the fees next time. Regards, Arbind Prasad 04.12.2010
