Re-admit Srijan, SC tells La Marts

The Supreme Court ordered La Martinere School For Boys on Friday to take back Srijan Banerjee, who was detained twice in Class IV, and allow him to continue.

The Division Bench of Judges V S Sirpurkar and T S Thakur also asked the counsel of Partha Pratim Banerjee to withdraw all allegations against the school. In a telephonic conversation from Delhi, Ashok Agarwal, the counsel of Srijan's father Partha Pratim Banerjee, said: "When the counsel appearing for the school said the child had failed, the judges asked what the teachers were doing. They said the child should be promoted and allowed to study in school." Agarwal said his client has agreed to withdraw all allegations against the school According to Partha Pratim Banerjee, Srijan (10) will join school from Monday. After being denied promotion twice, he stayed at home for the last seven months.

On October 4, the Calcutta High Court had directed the school to take back Srijan and promote him to Class V. Although initially the school had agreed, they later challenged the order in Supreme Court.
