HIGH LEVEL COORDINATION MEETING BETWEEN POLICE AND RAILWAY AUTHORITIES HELD AT FAIRLIE PLACE
Kolkata: Thursday, May 06, 2010.
A High level co-ordination meeting between Police and Railway authorities was held at Fairlie Place, Kolkata under the Chairmanship of Shri V.N. Tripathi, General Manager, Eastern Railway. Shri Dilip Mitra, Additional Director General of Police, Railways, West Bengal, Smt. Kumud Chowdhury, Additional Director General of Police, Railways, Jharkhand, Shri S.K. Bharadaj, Additional IG(P), Bihar, Shri K. Harirajan, Additional CP, Kolkata, Shri M.K. Bhattacharjee, Special IG/IB, West Bengal, Dr. S.C. Sahu, Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, Eastern Railway, Senior RPF officers of Eastern Railway and Principal Head of the Departments, Eastern Railway attended the meeting.
Implementation of 7-point joint resolution, taken at Board's level on 20.01.2010 during meeting with the Home Secretaries of different States at Delhi was discussed. Joint strategy to visit place of occurrence in case of explosion or sabotage of Railway track on Maoist attack at Railway Stations especially in night, for relief rescue and early restoration was discussed and modalities hammered out. Escorting trains in inter State border areas; means to combat offence of drugging in trains and at stations was deliberated upon. Ways and means to fight increasing terrorist activities was discussed and measures decided upon. Measures to improve passenger's security in Metro Railway were also decided. Modernization of Forces, with state of the art security gadgets and surveillance as well as access control equipment were decided upon. Security of passengers in view of present enhanced terror threat also featured in discussion and joint strategies were discussed.
